Michael Praetorius
Michael Praetorius (1571-1621) was a composer, organist, chapel master, and court music director in Wolfenbuttel, Germany. He arranged a tremendous quantity of Lutheran hymns and other sacred music for widespread use in the church, from professional court musicians to congregational choirs. His Christian piety and love of Lutheran theology permeated his musical work. Read full biography.
